How Do I Get Better Credit?

Free Budgeting Tools

There’s no doubt that creating and sticking to a budget can be, well, challenging.  Fortunately there are plenty of free online tools that will help you manage your finances.

The advantages to using an online spreadsheet or system vs. just writing everything down in a notebook is that these spreadsheets very often save you valuable time.  They’ll add your expenditures for you, create nifty charts and graphs to help you track your spending, and do lots of other handy things your spiral notebook can’t.  So, without further ado let’s look at some of the free tools that are available to you on the Internet.

•   BetterBudgeting.com - This entire site is filled with useful articles and tips on how to save money and make it stretch month to month.  If you’d like to try on of their budget calculators, look for the link on the left hand side of the site about a quarter of the way down the page.

•   DaveRamsey.com - Financial guru Dave Ramsey has built an incredible site filled with amazingly informative articles on how to get out of debt and build wealth.  Now, to get to his budgeting tools you’re going to click on the My Total Money Makeover link on the left.  He offers a free 7-day trial for his program.  Is it worth to join?  Read the reviews and see for yourself.  His programs have helped thousands get out of debt and start building wealth, so it seems to be working!  He also offers some free budgeting tools that are very stripped down from his paid membership tools, but they’re nice to try.  On his main page, right in the center section is a box titled “More Information”.  You’ll see the free options there.

•   JustBudget.com - If you’re looking for a simple interface to track your spending then you’ll be happy with this site’s budgeting tool.  It’s easy and it’s free.  What’s better than that?

•   Mvelopes.com - This site offers a free 30-day trial of their budgeting software.  Click on the “Budget Center” link on the top right hand side.  They offer a lot of free budget and debt calculators if you surf around a bit.  These can be really useful if you take the time to use them.

Budgeting doesn’t have to be the painful, horrible experience most people equate it to being.  Budgeting is the single best way to gain control of your spending and cut down on money wasting purchases like those shoes you don’t need and that latte you’re too full to drink anyway.  These tools can help you get out of debt and start building the wealth you’ve always dreamed up.  You just have to work at it, and keep in mind that it won’t happen overnight.  But, day by day, week by week, you’ll get there!
